Nesting or Amalgamation?
Nesting is the term we use to describe an arrangement where an existing congregation of the United Church of Canada physically co-locates with another congregation to share resources, worship together, and form closer relationships.
In 2024, we became the “nest” for Trinity United Church, a nearly 180-year old congregation that had previously worshipped in downtown Kitchener. Visit Trinity United online here and discover for yourself why we wanted to nest with this dynamic congregation with an active social justice ministry.
In 2025 teams have been created to examine whether or not to move from nesting to amalgamation in to one church. Much work is to be done and it will be done transparently so that all stakeholders will be in the know and able to make an informed decision.
